Mankiewicz; Twentieth Century Fox. One of the most brilliant films of all time, nominated for 14 Academy Awards and winner of Best Picture for 1950. The story of an aging actress and the duplicitous hopeful who works her way into the actress world, hoping to take her place. Here, Bette Davis (as Margo Channing) is being comforted by husband Bill (Merill) as she is angered when learning that Eve (Baxter) has become her understudy and has given a reading as beset the role, that role being one which should be played by a younger actress.
