AMERICAN VENUS, THE (1926)

Paramount scene cards. The film is famous to collectors as it is the first film in which Louise Brooks had a featured role (as beauty contestant, Miss Bayport), but the film. Though this is a lost film, two trailers do exist and one features two-strip Technicolor shots of one of the “Tableaus” staged for the beauty contest. Whimsical art of waves frame Lanphier as she stands on a platform wearing the latest in 1925 bathing attire. One scene card shows Esther Ralston in a Tableau as a blonde bathing beauty. The other scene card depicts Kenneth MacKenna on a set with Fay Lanphier who carries a large plumed fan. Lanphier is also depicted in the title card. The border art is of the Louise Brooks character.
