Vintage original 11 x 14" (28 x 35 cm.) lobby card. U. S. Ann Harding, Leslie Howard, Myrna Loy, William Gargan, Neil Hamilton, Ilka Chase, dir: Edward H. Griffith, George Cukor; RKO. A superlative production from David O. Selznick of the popular Phillip Barry play. This is a society story about a writer who publishes books that will sell, is involved with two women, marries one and becomes bored. When he attempts to renew his relationship with the second woman, she puts an end to it. The story and clever dialogue were pure per-code. This was one of the very first films for which George Cukor came to Hollywood from New York to work on dialogue and characterization with the actors. Tom Collier (Leslie Howard) shares a round of cocktails with the manipulative Cecilia (Myrna Loy), whom he decides to marry; his old friend, Red Regan (William Gargan), is now working as his butler, and he is making fun of Howard's choice of wife. Powerful Art Deco design, rarely seen pre-Code title.
