Vintage original 11 x 17" (28 x 43 cm.) campaign/press book, U. S. , 30 pages (in three sections). James Cagney, Pat O'Brien, Humphrey Bogart, Ann Sheridan, George Bancroft, Billy Halop, Bobby Jordan, Leo Gorcey, dir: Michael Curtiz; Warner Brothers. This now classic crime drama was given a big campaign by the conservative Warner Brothers. True to the nature of the story, the campaign art has a real "newspaper"feel to it. This is comprised of a main book of 14 pages including exploitation ideas and a tipped in letter to the Boy Scouts of America, as well as the theatre herald, lobby cards, color photo sets, fan photos, a "Newsflash" page for reproduction and the large format posters in red tint. There is an 8 page advertising section with various sized magazine and newspaper lay-outs. There is also an 8 page publicity section presented in newspaper format including articles, cartoons and fashion tie ins for newspaper and magazine reproduction. There is even a full column article, "Humphrey Bogart Forced by Fans to Life of Crime" (explaining why patrons only want him to play"tough roles.) This is one of the cleanest examples of any campaign book we have ever seen, seemingly unused.
